Floral Tips for a Bride on a Budget
Saturday, April 4, 2026
Be mindful of the flowers you are choosing.
Choose flowers that are in season and readily available.
Cost-Effective Flowers: freesia, baby's breath, stock roses, daisies, stock, carnations, solidago, mums, gerbera, alstromeria, tulips, wax flower, blue thistle, queen anne's lace, spray roses, gladiolus
Expensive Flowers: Peonies, gardenias, stephanotis, calla lilies, casablanca lilies, ranunculus, orchids, lily of the valley, garden roses, hydrangeas
Add lots of greenery and use different types to help add texture and movement.
Big full flowers fill up more space.
Consider what type of arrangements you are looking for - installations vs. arrangements.
Installations on arbors and staircases can be quite costly as they require more labor and more flowers and greens.
Think of substituting large installations with a few arrangements or loose greens.
If you are hoping to have some installations, think of how you can use them for multiple parts of the wedding and just in general, reusing florals throughout the day.
Use arbor installations as sweetheart table florals
Use bouquets as centerpieces and/or other table decor (i.e. food table, card table, cocktail table, etc.)
Use aisle markers as centerpieces
Think outside the vase for centerpieces and mix in bud vases or loose greens with:
Photos
Lanterns
Vintage bottles
Wine bottles
Vintage books
Feathers
Vintage cameras/typewriters
Birdcages
Small globes
Geodes
Vintage tins
Moss, pinecones, tree branches/slices
Teacups, bowls, candlesticks, candles
Potted Plants
Go for single bloom bridesmaids' bouquets
Fill your bouquet with a variety of colors and textures and have each bridesmaid carry a bouquet of one flower that's in your bouquet, or have them match and do bouquets of a more cost-effective flower (i.e. baby's breath)
Reduce the size of your wedding or wedding party
A harder decision but always consider who you really want to spend your special day with.
Other things to consider during wedding costs:
Set up & delivery fees - some florists offer pick-up, where you can have some pickup bouquets and other florals to save on cost.
Ask your venue or house of worship if they have florals and decor you could use for your special day.
Pick a theme that matches your home/aesthetic and use decor from your house or future home!
